Whereas the French, after their Revolution, took on Neo-Classicism as an expression of their fervor for democracy, later Europeans simply revived the style because they admired it. Which is great news for us, because although this is a near-replica of an extant tiara (the original has sapphires as the horizontal, oval stones), it will look wonderful with either an Edwardian gown or a Regency one.
